You, the B&NC MAG reader, probably already know Billy Fortin. He is the owner/operator of both the Market at Pound Ridge Square and the popular Blind Charlie’s eatery across the street in Scotts Corners, and he’s somewhat ubiquitous in and at every local charity and event. He’s a bit of Horatio Alger, Huck Finn, Jimmy Stewart and Sam Drucker (the character who played the role of the grocery store operator – and that of every other service and tradesman in the country town – in the old TV show Green Acres) all rolled into one real-life version. You want to call him a real ‘regular guy’, but the truth is, he’s exemplary.
