New Canaan Holiday Stroll

Downtown New Canaan Elm Street, New Canaan

This year’s Holiday Stroll will be held on Friday December 1st & Saturday December 2nd. Friday night Elm Street will be closed and the stores will be open! The Holiday Stroll is New Canaan’s Answer to Small Business Saturday…Our Stores are excited to kick off the Holiday Shopping season and will be ready to help you find the perfect gift for whomever is on your list! Friday night come to town to see a show put on by local singers and dancers and grab a Selfie with Santa , eat a S’more or waffle, and stay to shop and grab dinner with friends! There will be light up trinkets for sale and you may event see a few of your favorite Holiday Characters hanging with the School mascots! On Saturday Santa will be doing his annual Meet and Greet at Houlihan Lawrence (161 Elm Street) from 10:00 am – 3:00 pm. Bring a donation for the Food Pantry when you come to see Santa. When you are downtown shopping on Saturday you will have a chance to grab another waffle and hear some holiday tunes!

BALLET Instructor: Lauren Muccino Ballet is the foundation for all forms of dance. Learn the various positions and develop grace and balance. Class consists of warm up at the “barre,” floor stretches, center dance, and free-form freeze dance. Come dance like a ballerina and perform in the showcase at the end of the session. Ballet slippers, tights, and leotard preferred, but comfortable clothing and sneakers are welcome as well. Palomino is a duo based in Bedford made up of Pam Hervey & Tom O’Brien. They play covers and originals, and love putting their own unique spin on songs you know! They perform acoustic - or plugged in for a bigger sound - with intertwined vocals, guitar and percussion. Palomino will be performing as "The Palomino Club,” welcoming their longtime friend and collaborator Arthur Zinn, lead singer of New Canaan-based Mind the Gap.

The Town Players Presents: A Christmas Story

Starting Friday, December 1, through Sunday, December 17, The Town Players of New Canaan will present “A Christmas Story,” the beloved American tale familiar to generations as a holiday family film favorite. Twelve local children, ages 6 to 17, join local grown-up actors in a nostalgic classic play evoking the magic and anticipation of children’s seemingly eternal wait for Christmas. The plot follows the schemes and antics of fourth grader Ralphie Parker (alternately played by New Canaanites Carlos Escamilla and Miles Langrick), who is determined to find a Red Ryder BB gun under the tree on Christmas morning. Chazz Palminteri’s One Man Performance of A Bronx Tale at the Ridgefield Playhouse

Back by popular demand, Academy Award nominee Chazz Palminteri returns to The Ridgefield Playhouse stage with “A Bronx Tale” in his only Connecticut performance! In 1989 Palminteri wrote for himself a play entitled “A Bronx Tale,” a powerful one-man stage commentary in which he depicted his bruising childhood in great detail, which included witnessing gangland slayings. Palminteri brought each and every character to life (18 in all) in this autobiographical piece — his friends, enemies, even his own family. He showcased for years in both Los Angeles and New York, finally sparking the interest of his film idol, Robert De Niro. DeNiro, wanting to direct for the first time, saw the potential of this project and brought both it and the actor/writer to the screen. An unknown film commodity at the time, Chazz had stubbornly refused to sell his stage property (the offers went into the seven figures) unless he was part of the package as both actor and screenwriter. DeNiro, who became his mentor, backed him up all the way, and the rest is history. “Susan Said” in Concert at the Lewisboro Library

The Lewisboro Library is thrilled to welcome the band "Susan Said" for their first concert on the Library stage on Friday, December 1 at 8 pm! This alternative rock band from NYC has been playing for over 30 years. It features lead singer Susan Wilson-Sed with Matthew Rocchio on bass and Brendan Saadat on lead guitar. A popular local favorite, the band has toured the US, Europe, and Canada, in addition to releasing 4 albums. The opening act for this fabulous evening will be “The Treblemakers,” John Jay High School’s co-ed a cappella group, who perform at numerous school and community events. This event is a benefit for the Lewisboro Library. Reserved seating is $30 per person. Price includes refreshments, light bites courtesy of The Horse and Hound, and wine tastings by Cross River Wine Merchant. Doors will open at 7:30 pm.
