“Michael Dweck: Blunderbust” exhibition opens April 11

Heather Gaudio Fine Art is pleased to present Michael Dweck: Blunderbust, his first solo exhibition at the gallery. The show will open April 11th, with a reception for the artist 6-8pm, and will be on view through June 1st, 2024. Dweck is a multi-disciplinary artist primarily known for working in photography, most notably for his series documenting niche socio-cultural identities such as Mermaids, Habana Libre, and The End: Montauk. Over the years his artistic practice expanded to sculpture and filmmaking, and more recently he has delved into painting. The gallery will be presenting Blunderbust, Dweck’s first paintings from the multi-media corpus that also includes photography, sculpture, installations, and a feature documentary. For over 70 years, the Long Island car raceways were a vital part of its small-town, blue-collar culture. Dweck grew up minutes from Freeport Stadium known for a survival-of-the-fittest type of racing rallies, “somewhere between NASCAR and Mad Max, whose wild theater – jostling colors and stench of gas and burnt rubber, the cacophony of screeching tires and crashing metal” made for some of the artist’s early memories. The Leatherman’s Loop 10k

Ward Pound Ridge Reservation

The Leatherman’s Loop is is a unique 10k trail run at Ward Pound Ridge Reservation in Cross River, NY. It features river crossings, mud flats, a quarry climb, beautiful pine forests, swamp land, and the Legend of the Leatherman. The Leatherman’s Loop was founded in 1987 and has been run every year since then (except during the COVID restricted years of 2020 and 2021). We believe it is the largest trail race east of the Mississippi River in the United States and possibly the third largest trail race* in the United States (depending on the year), with over 1,300 finishers in its 32nd and 33rd years 2018 and 2019. Runners consistently say it is one of the best trail races out there.

Little Women in Concert

Connecticut Stage Company presents their second show in their inaugural season, Little Women in Concert. Performances will be April 27 at 7:00 pm & April 28 at 2:00 pm at New Canaan Library. The show will be lead by two-time Tony nominee Kate Baldwin as Marmee & Broadway’s Kennedy Caughell as Jo. The cast is rounded out by Cara Rose DiPietro, Kelly Gabrielle Murphy, Francesca Mehrotra, Ethan Riordan, Jack Shapiro, Michael F. McGuirk, Donna Schilke, and Bill Squier. Tickets are a suggested $30 donation

The Manhattan Project’s Alice in Wonderland

Version of Lewis Carroll's classic created by The Manhattan Project under the direction of under the direction of André Gregory. Definitely not your mother’s “Alice,” this rarely revived 1970’s Off-Broadway sensation is an exuberant, funny and strikingly relevant fantasy version of Lewis Carroll’s classic story, accompanying Alice down the rabbit hole and through the looking glass where madness awaits at every turn. Director Peter Green offers a fresh new revival of the acclaimed 1970’s Off-Broadway smash hit that invigorated experimental theatre and captivated audiences around the world. Join cast talk-backs after the show on Sunday, 4/28; Friday, 5/3; Sunday, 5/5; Friday, 5/10. Saturday night “Tipsy Tea Parties” offering wine and spiked tea for a donation; special Mother’s Day pre-show Tea Party, reservations required.
