Life Worth Living Curriculum Development Workshop for Educators

Grace Farms 365 Lukes Wood Road, New Canaan, CT, United States

Experience one of Yale’s most popular undergraduate courses, “Life Worth Living,” and design your own adaptation of the curriculum! In training teachers and expanding this curriculum to reach secondary schools, we aim to help educators bring critical questions and new approaches to thinking to their many students who will grow into our next generation of leaders. The Connecticut Association of Independent Schools and the Yale Center for Faith & Culture are excited to partner with Grace Farms to launch the second iteration of this workshop. About Life Worth Living Day-to-day, we live our lives solving problems, taking on projects, trying to achieve our goals, and sometimes questioning just what it is we are hoping to accomplish. But deeper questions are always there, often just beneath the surface: What kind of life would be truly worth wanting? What kind of world would be truly worth seeking? How ought I to live? Through encounters with texts from major religious and philosophical traditions, dialog, and personal reflection, the Life Worth Living course guides participants into some of the fundamental questions that shape our lives. Modernism, Inc. | The Eliot Noyes Design Story

Grace Farms 365 Lukes Wood Road, New Canaan, CT, United States

presented by Grace Farms and Architecture & Design Film Festival Modernism, Inc. (75 minutes, Director: Jason Cohn) tells the story of one of New Canaan’s most influential architects and a transitional figure in American design, Eliot Noyes. Educated by Walter Gropius at Harvard, Noyes brought a not-before-seen modernist design approach to corporate America. His impact on companies like IBM and Mobil paved the way for Apple and many design-conscious brands we know today. Noyes also built many houses in New Canaan, including one in 1954, where he raised his family. The house is an outstanding example of 1950’s Modernist residential design and is still owned by his three children. Modernism, Inc. had its US premiere in October 2023 at the Architecture & Design Film Festival (ADFF) in New York. It is currently screening at festivals around the world including Modernism Week 2024 in Palm Springs. The screening will be followed by a Q&A with ADFF Festival Director Kyle Bergman, director Jason Cohn, IBM Corporate Archivist Jamie Martin, and architect and son of Eliot Noyes, Frederick Noyes. The evening is hosted by Grace Farms Architecture Advisor Toshihiro Oki.
